Most likely it's a build date, You'd be able to check by looking at your vin number, I think it's like the second number you'll come across in the list.  Maybe the first..I don't know for certain, but I'm sure it is something to do with that.

I knew I'd seen these types of sites around...I'm trying to find a specific one I've seen before...here we go...just a few to help decifer the ever puzzling VIN.

I think this is the one I was talking about...but it's been ages - http://www.mathnotes.com/aw_IDnumber.html - This gives a definition to the reasoning behind VINS and their applications

This one is good for vehicles from 1981-2002 - http://www.aftermarket.org/information/vin_decoder/vin_decoder.asp

Thanks Chelly, I'll look into that. And with TSB's, your dealer can do them right, you just have to pay for them??

;) You can contact any Ford Dealer Service Dept. and they can run your VIN for you. No cost.

You can also go to http://www.fordvehicles.com and register for the "My Ford" site and there is all sorts of info you can get from that...including the work you've had done at dealers from when you bought it to current.

Pretty cool site.  I use it all the time and I even add my own maintenance like oil changes etc. for use for when I sell her.  All of it can go with her.

yup, they should be able to run your vin and tell you what if any TSB's need to be done on your car, or might be applied to your car.  The major difference between a TSB and a recall is the number of cars affected by the problem.  Far less vehicles are typically affected by a TSB than a recall...not every Focus has a problem with rear tire inner edge wear, so there isn't a recall, but it does affect a number of Foci, so they put out the TSB, it makes it so the dealership has to do less thinking, and more work. :D

Just a few TSB's that I found, that I didn't see much about, or did see and found a bit more explanation on...

TSB 16888  Pertains to rattling, or squeaking of the instrument cluster. (I have this)

TSB 15421 and 15308 Pertains to a difficulty turning, removing, or inserting key into the ignition.

TSB 012101 Pertains to condensation in the headlights.  There is more information out there, but you have to pay for it.

 You won't believe it, but I just got my first, official, notice re: my Focus from FORD!

I never thought I'd fall into the group of those that had those lovely letters come to them.  Well, I'm no longer that "special one".
I got to my parent's house Sat. afternoon and there was a notice for me re: the extension to my warranty for my EGR! :P  I think it's kinda funny, but it's nice to have the information sent to me.

The worst part about it though - they still have me listed with my MARRIED name!!! ACK! :X gonna fix that right now!
