Well, finally got around to taking some pics of the house that needs painting BAD.
They are kinda far away so i dont think you can see just how bad it needs it (long out... hard to get a pic of)... but even from the distance you can see it peeling.
Next year... perhaps ill have a paintin G2G..... when you are done... then you get the beer
**OK.. photobucket must not like me again today... i resized both of those, i dont knwo why the first one is so big.. maybe it will settle out in a bit **

My hands are so sore from holding a paintbrush/bucket of paint, it's not even funny!!!
I think I'll just sit there and look pretty and hold YOUR beer for you
BTW, is the house pink????
And the side of your garage is how our house looks in the back. (seriously peeled/chipped etc.) It makes it super easy to scrape though!
edit: the pics are sized fine now just to let you know.

Pokes does the side of the garage face the South? That's kinda what the back of our house looked like, getting beat on by the sun all the time (when we get sun!) Looks like a cute house actually!
5-man crew showed up 8AM today, with ladders, sprayers and a BUCKET TRUCK. I wanted a ride in it, but they looked busy so I figured I'd be normal. 8 hours later they rolled out, most of the house has 2 coats, one side has none, the shutters and doors are all painted, plus they repaired and painted our decorative well!
A nice thing they did (I didn't know beforehand) is they went around caulking and nailing in a few clapboards that had started to pull up as their protection wore off, before they started painting them. So now we've got a mostly nice red house and an army of black shutters leaning against the side of the dry garage! They'll be back tomorrow to finish up and rehang the downspouts.

As I look out onto my half primered house (with 2 coats of paint to go) your post made me want to cry
Are you sure you don't want to send them to my house and foot the bill for me?? They won't have to scrape at all anymore.. just paint and I can supply them the paint!!!!
lol.
You'll have to post some pics when they're done!

I tell ya what, your porch looks like a computer image. It looks so perfect- I bet your house looks really nice when it's done. That is a nice color for the porch, and I'm picturing the whole house the darker shade, with white windowsills and trim. Perfect!

No, the house isnt pink... well... i guess it kinda is... its kinda an orange/pink.... its called salmon or something like that.... they dont make it anymore... was the color my parents picked in the early 80s when then bought the house and had the paint changed from white.
Most of the house is pretty peeling. My parents decited to paint some of it this year so that section is going to be a pain since they didnt even really scrape it or anything (ew).
and that side of the garage actually faces west. i think that got damaged from the guy next door building his house over the span of 15 years. Took out a bunch of trees and everything and raped the garage.
Its going to be a job next year thats all i know. might change the color too, havent decited yet. Dont know what other color to do it though, that the only color i remember it being

I know..... paint it the same color as your focus
but if I remember the house correctly, you will most definitely want to do it white. And if you need help in painting, you know who to call

Everything in the neighborhood is white or some ligher color (Except for the UGLY brick house they built next door). The house is very long and only like 16' wide at best so I kinda want something to bring it all together.

No Carbon Fiber tho."
Oh would you hush up about teh CF though?
Although, I'm sure if the husband could figure out how to make CF window trim... we'd probably have it!!
I really do hope it looks good when it's done. It's been so much work (and now I'm finaly getting there where I'm ALMOST done scraping!!! WOOT!!!).

Hang in there girl! With the scraping over I think you're over the hump now... it'll be done before you know it and you'll have the satisfaction (and sore arms) of doing it yourself!
As for sending the guys out, I shudder to think the price they would charge for sending all those guys and the Bucket out to WI! They are officially done now, I think in total they logged 75 man-hours, and that was with power-washers and professional experience!
The house looks brand new now, with it's nondecrepit well and restained front doors. My mom got the shutters done in Black, whereas they used to be white. I was wary at first, but gosh they look nice up there now! I'll see about some After pics for ya, consider them motivational, not discouraging!!
I have to say that now that I'm painting it is going very fast.
My wonderful neighbor came back over tonight and asked me what I decided with the paint color. She looked very disapointed when I told her that I liked it and was keeping it
I would love to see some pics of the freshly painted house! (totaly done now, right?)

Pokes, maybe look for that Wagner painter item, the one where there's commercials of a dude running all over the neighborhood painting the houses and fences? It looks like it could make the painting easier, and it'll probably go on sale as summer goes on?
Like these things? I've got 2 Wagner sprayers. They are easy to use, & make the job go 10X faster. IMO, they aren't difficult to clean, especially if you're using latex paint. It takes as long, or longer to clean brushes. Assuming all the prep work was done, it'd be very possible for one person to paint the entire house, (excluding trim), in one day.

Mr. V,
we purchased one but took it back on the advice of a friend (as well as the store employee who warned us about it when we purchased it!)
I don't have any experience with them, but i have HEARD they are very hard to clean.
I kind of wish we had at least tried ours though.

I'll get those pics tomorrow when it's light out! Totally done, I really like the result, and my dog's happy that there aren't random people wandering around his yard all day!
I can't believe your neighbor came back, some people just don't get it I suppose... maybe once you're done it'll secretly make her crazy everytime she drives by and sees your house

Do you know how happy that would make me?

When using latex paint, the way to clean them is:
1. remove the plastic paint tank & rinse it out with soap & hot water.
2. Fill the tank with hot, soapy water, screw it back on, and operate the sprayer, spraying the hot, soapy water through the gun & nozzle.
3. Put it away.
