Dear Focus Owners,

If you think it would be easier to have someone else fix your car, keep reading, otherwise cheers and take er' easy and if she's easy, take er' twice.

If you have a 2007 Focus a Ford Focus Upgrade ESP is the easiest way to fix a problem!!!  Really cheap!!!!!  For other Focus years, I can make it worth your while to upgrade your ESP.  IF this seems like a something you would like to know more about, check out the ESP section of http://www.northernford.com

Thanks everyone,

Jeff Olson

It all depends on miles.  How many miles do you have?

many probably too many (112K) I was sort of asking as a benchmark for others, is there a maximum?

Best time to do it is under 36,000 miles or under factory warranty.  That makes for the cheapest cost and longest about of time....(up to 100,000) miles.  Your Focus has been good for 112k ??????

Good and still going.

I had the ESP until 75K  I think it was...the only issue I had was a rear brake cylinder go bad and the clutch master cylinder boot cracked because of the cold weather.  Otherwise, no real issues.  And it gets flogged in autocross about 10-15 times during the summer, lets just say it's run at the rev limiter for longer than most feel comfortable.

Is this a "true" ford ESP or 3rd company?

My 01 should roll 50K by mid April
07 Ranger will roll 15K by the same time if not sooner.

All I know is that in second gear the rev limiter kicks in around 60mph on an autocross course which works out fine, I never leave second, first is WAY too short, and creates way too much one tire fire, I think sometime soon it's time to get a grapefruit on this bad boy.

I like my tranny where it is thank you.

I'm afraid with the 4.10's and limited slip a reall good neutral drop will drop the rear end then the drive shaft and drag with it the tranny. With my luck the u-joints won't brake and they will drag whatever they are hooked to.

But I might lift the front off the ground if its "that" good... Hmmmm. ;ques

Note to self- do not drop the clutch in reverse... the motor mount made an awful "BAM" sound.

I was trying to perform a J-Turn in front of my friend's house... yeah that didn't work.

I don't know.

I never used the ESP on the Focus and hit the year mark on it. It's not 100% stock now with Urithane bushings bumper to bumper, SVTf suspension, Eibach sways front and rear. I want to get a set of cams or a PowerWorks SC. Cams are cheaper.

I opted out of the ESP on the Ranger for 2 main reasons. I used the ESP money for gap coverage and with never using the Focus ESP and me learning a lot about cars in the past few years I figured I'd just fix whatever went wrong or byte the bullet and rob a bank to fix it.

I would contimplate an ESP of it was a Genuine Ford ESP and not a 3rd party one. Don't want to have to deal with paying up front and fight to get payed back or dealing with "this is covered but this isn't" and "this part can only be changed once" ect. My parents had to fight with Ford once about the Cruise switches in an Explorer. The lights on it went out and they gave some BS line about having one major and one minor repair with the ESP and this would be there one minor repair. Was it dealer or ESP I do not know.

Um... 2 things.

You start in reverse to do the J-turn and they work a hell of a lot better with a bit of snow or sand on the road.

I was starting in reverse. I simply dropped the clutch in reverse with the intentions of doing a "right here, right now" J-Turn.

Does anyone else with a Duratec have an issue with it making plastic-ramming-metal noises while shifting hard? I know sometimes when I nail 2nd, or get a little wheel hop off the line, I get a "BAM" sound. Maybe I should get that looked at while it's still under warranty.
