I have the 2.3 Duratec. Engine was misfiring. I replaced the spark plugs and It helped but there was still a problem, even thogh it didnt throw a trouble code again. I replaced the coil boots along with the springs that go inside the boots. Now it runs alot better. Today I cleaned a bunch of connections including the tps connection. Has a good Idle. The engine "jerks" and hesitates when accelerated you can also say that it struggles, not every single time, but it does do it alot, enough times to know that theres something up that must be fixed. I need help. What do you guys think is wrong?

Coils maybe? Did you clean the MAFs?

Try disconnecting the battery, then holding the brake pedal for 30 sec until the capacitors die. Recommect the battery. That should "reset" the ECU back to factory settings.

I cleaned the MAFs not too long ago but ill try it again tomorrow.
Should the reseting of the ECU be done with the car running?

I tried pulling each coil plug connection to see if I had a bad coil. After pulling each plug connection they all reacted the same way, engine started sputtering. Also tried reseting the ecu. Changed the fuel filter about 5k ago.
Another thing I noticed is when I tap the throttle the RPM's shoot up a little past 2k (my normal idle is under 1k) and it will stay there for a second or two before coming back down (normally it should shoot up not as high and then drop down the instant I let go of the throttle)

Sounds like a faulty TPS to me (throttle position sensor).

Will a faulty TPS cause those other symptoms? (My engine stutering and jerking under acceleration)

It could. Of course, I make no garauntees. But it sounds like a faulty TPS to me- it would get your "tip in" wrong when you accelerate, which could cause jerky acceleration.
