Hey everyone. If you know someone that would like'em, let them know they up for purchase. A long time goal of mine has been to create something of a market for myself on ebay with my storm and nature pictures since no one else on there seems to be doing anything like that. I havent much success in the past, but its been on my heart to give it a try again. So if you know someone that just has to have a picture of lightning, check out the links. I threw in a sunset for some variety.
I think this is a really good idea! I agree I haven't looked into it much but this does seem to be an under-utilized niche on the eBay market.
I'll definitely keep your venture in mind if I think of anything or anyone that would like that kind of art. Hmm, that sunset one's gorgeous, ahh summer...

That would be awsome. Hopefully I can get a few more....thousand people looking around for them and start something. I think most of the problem is how ebay has them listed, the category they are in. Its under the main category of collectibles and I think it would do better if it were under something more descriptive such as photographs and then work the categories from there such as nature, scenic and so forth.

When I saw it sold I though I wonder should I list it again. I hate to diminish the photograph, but if people like it, maybe there is a market there. I sent you an email too. What do you think? If you purchased a photograph and then saw it listed again, would that photograph be diminshed to you? Would you be less likely to buy again because you found it listed again? Give me some feedback, you're my first customer so I got to get some feedback so I know how to promote all this.

Hey, also, Im not trying to be pompus or anything like that, but do you want me to sign it on the back? I gave away a couple of my lightning pictures to people when I first started photographing storms and they would always ask me to sign them, so if you want me to I can do that. I guess they held out hope that I would be famous one day and they'd have something, . Anyway, Im not trying to be full of myself but I thought I would ask just in case.

Well lil duratec, you have given me some inspiration and hope so I decided to list a couple more photographs and hopefully will get a feel of what people are interested in. Perhaps one of the failings of my past attemps was that I only listed my lightning photographs and I guess you'd have to be a special kinda nut to want something like that. So we'll see how these go. If you guys have any thoughts, be sure to let me know.
If you haven't sent it a signature is cool, maybe you will be famous some day and I could have it!
Oh and if I saw the same photo up for auction again, it wouldn't diminish my view of it that someone else has it, if I had liked it in the first place.
Hey I got a "pickup your item" slip in my mailbox this afternoon! Of course it was after 4:30 so I couldn't get it, but I can't remember ordering anything else so I bet it's the photo! Can't wait, I have a bunch of free time on Tuesdays, might run to "Targeh" for a suitable frame!
I would, its a very rewarding hobby. Photography did two very important things for me.
1. It helped me deal with my impatience. I still find myself having to be aware of it, but Im much better at it now.
2. It helped me find an outlet for some me time to get into some peaceful moments and relaxing moments.
I enjoy it FAR too much to ever make it a profession, but I certainly have no reservations about selling my work. Its nice to make money from the pictures, but I like best of all the reaction of people when they see this big sprawling lightning strike. Most people never really get to examine a lightning strike in any detail. I can give them that opportunity. I have been out chasing storms, looking straight at the lightning and all I see is a flash of light, but on the camera is a huge branched lightning strike. If not for the camera, I would have never been able to take in the beauty and detail of it all.

It arrived perfectly, plenty of sturdy cardboard it wasn't wrinkled or creased a bit. I don't remember if there were labels on the outside that said "Don't fold, photo"? Maybe you should try that. The mail-lady here at school said they tried to bend it to get in my box, but decided against it, hence my "you've got a package" slip.
Anyway, I found it this perfect black wooden frame, it's sitting on my desk now til I get a "bulldog" to mount it on the wall... see?
My roommate noticed it right away and said it was nice.
Outstanding! I forgot to put "dont bend" on it, but it was a photo mailer too so I thought it wouldnt be an issue. Thanks for the eBay feedback and the feedback here as well. Unfortunately none of the other pictures sold . Oh well, Im going to keep trying. I'll eventually figure it out.
