Product Spotlight
Great news for Focus owners that have the MAC Short Ram intake. After nearly two full summer seasons of testing the Clear Acrylic Intake Tube, myFordPerformance.com have decided to make the product available to the public.
Never before has a short ram intake looks so cool !
This clear acrylic tube is extremely clear, and durable. It's impossible to describe just how crystal clear this tubing is, it's about as near to glass as a plastic can get! Cleaning is a breeze, just as you would clean a fine wine glass. Use only mild soapy water, rinse, air dry or wipe dry with a fine soft cloth.
With a 3" outer diameter, it's a exact fit to the silicone sleeve and elbow that is used in the MAC kit. Simply remove your MAC kits original metal tube, install the new clear tube and you are set to go and show !
Product Test Results
Initial local daily driver testing of the clear intake tube was done in the winter of 2004/2005 on a local customer's car in New York. We chose the winter in New York specifically so that we would not expose the prototype to extreme heat conditions. After successful testing for more than 3 months, in February of 2005 we started looking for testers in hotter parts of the country. We found testers in Florida, Texas, and California. Having found testers in extreme heat driving conditions, the intake tube would then be tested for a full year with complete success! Each of our tester have reported no problems since installation. We're talking about daily drivers in heat conditions exceeding 100 degrees daily !!
Eric in Tampa, Florida installed the tube on his car in February 2005. In May of 2006 after more than 10,000 miles and 14 solid months of use, Eric reported that everything was great with the intake tube. His exact words: "It has over 10000 miles on it and it is perfectly fine. I have had no problem with it. Surprisingly it doesn’t have to be cleaned often.".
Joshua of Chowchilla, CA where temperatures during the summer were 100+ degrees at times, has had his clear tube installed since June 2005. He reported no problems during July of 2005 when temperatures were 100+ degrees daily. In March of 2006, Joshua's report on the tube is still all good, with comments like: "The tube held up perfectly to the nice hot California summer. It is a very nice product, it does get dusty under the hood, but a little soap and water takes care of that."
Matthew of Houston, TX also a nice hot place to test the tube... Matthew installed the tube on his Focus in July of 2005, dead of summer heat in Houston. 600 miles in of mostly in Stop & Go traffic, Matthew reported: "it's holding up great! No discoloration, no cracking, no spiderwebs and it's looking as good as it did on the day I installed it!". In April of 2006, Matthew reported: "Intake is holding up great! There have been no cracks, stress fractures, spider webbing or anything, it still looks good! The only thing that has changed are a few water spots on it."
