Car Alarm Install

To start off you have to plan a little bit, walk the car see what tools you need to accomplish your task to avoid repeat trips to the toolbox. Especially in an Apartment Complex where your tools are up the GD stairs

More tools

Some extra tools I forgot.

Next I Pop the hood I figure out where the hood pin and the Siren will go.

Place I decided.

Hood pin hole I filed out to get a good ground.

Hood Pin Testing- I mounted the hood pin and slowly brought the hood down to ensure I didn't break it. Once I mounted it I put white out on the pin to ensure that it gets pushed down when hood is shut. This can be a tedious process. Also check out my contingency photo.

Contingency- If no where seems suitable you can take metal bracket stuff and make a place for hood pin to go.

Crimp...... da wire to connect to hood pin

Connection complete for the hood pin on to siren .....and routing wires.

Well the rav four had a "natural" factory routing thing I used right next to the siren how CON VEEEEEEEEEEEEnant. Used the handy dandy pick tool to pop that sucker open and route the wires

See just need a tad bit-o-loom LMAO

I usually ground the siren right next to it but I decided since the battery was right there. BAM

Now my special made fisher tool is a 3 foot zip tie with 1/8 inch holes drilled in it to fish wires through holes. I found a grommet next to an AC pipe so I slit it with a razor blade and inserted the zip tie. I attached the the hood pin wire and the Positive wire from the siren. Since the siren is grounded outside, I run less wires through the firewall.

Location Location Location-ready to slide through the wall.

Wires successfully through firewall behind Glove box.

Side bar......Make notes about every car you do, then enter them to a data base you create or a notebook. That way when you repeat a car you can do it much quicker.

Now that those wires are done we move on to LED placement. In the RAV 4 There are many blank switch panels. I used one on the dash to get this done. Many people also use the A-pillar or even right next to the door locks on both doors like VW. Anyway you do what feels good it its up to you the installer.

Tools-

drill
unibit

LED

Drill a hole that allows a snug fit.

Routing the extended range antenna.....

I ran it up along the a-piller to the top of the windshield. I found a place for the brain first but I'm not going to take those pictures as of yet.

Anyway here's how I did it

Removed this with my panel tool
