Finished the ant mount...where's it at?

Oh there it is silly lil antenna.

Now the Hood Pin, LED, Antenna and siren are all completed. Well the shock sensor is done also....here's what I used

I just zip tied it to the doggone frame work under the dash ...I didn't get a pic sorry fellows. Anyway now all those things are done only took me an hour so far. On to the rest of the wires. These are all the killers.

Here's the wires and the list of what they accomplish. I go through and sort out the wires I do and do not use. tape them off and then I go back out to the whiptastic rav4.

I make this lil section seem easy but you really have to realize what is going on and what you need for you particular application

door trigger, hood trigger, factory disable, Etc Etc.....Ill go into what i did when the time comes in the tutorial. When you go to install an alarm let me know Ill setup a guideline for ya.

Your wire list you use will give you all the polarities so you can know what wires to use as well then the final thing is knowing what features you want to use. Trunk Pop, Aux1(windows, sunroof) Aux2 see Aux 1 LOL. The LED and Sensor and locks usually have there own sockets to plug into. Remote start is involved here also so were going to have fun guys.

See ...like so..yes its brown 3m electrical tape.....This thing is so far under the dash it doesn't matter. those extra two wires go to the siren and the hood pin I will wrap them separate cause they go further elsewhere.

On to the wiring. Well I draw boxes next to all my wires i need and check them off as I go. My first victim...er choice was the ground....from there I can test all other connections. I used a factory point as to keep everything neat.

OH Rewind.....here's the LED mounted.

Ok now the next wires I hunt down are the 12V positive. (All the time on) for the remote start connection and power to the alarm. But first. Any wire list you use verify all wires are correct when you find them.....I use a DMM....do not use a test light on newer vehicles as the current draw is too great and can damage equipment....also DO NOT PLAY WITH ANY YELLOW OR YELLOW BLACK HARNESSES OR ANYTHING LABELED AIRBAG. THESE ARE ALL AIRBAG WIRES AND WILL GO OFF WITH A BOOM AND CAN KILL. OK

back to pictures...here is my meter and me getting ready.

RAV 4 Airbags wires

Back to the task...12 V wires as per my wire list. I use a hook pick tool to separate the wire from the bundle..( see next post.)

I use some auto stripper to spread the wires insulation to create a tie in point. I never cut cause its easier to go back to "stock" if I want to keep the alarm.

This is how I test it...see its 12 volts.

Ok today I didn't feel like soldering (However solder is the best electrical connection please do so if you install yourself. I know my wife and she is a easy driver) SO I spread the wire apart and then proceed to twist them together in a strong manner IMO. Here is me making the "circle"

I then take the wire im going to connect to it and then make a V.

I then slide one wire into the loop bring the other around and twist it together. The pic I took was to blurry...If you need a reference the bulldog security manuals tell you how to do it...the finished project looks like this...this in no way takes the place of solder or well crimped connections...I was just lazy and its better than just praying they stay together. Once completed tape the connection up.

I then go on and do this for the Ignition, Accessory, and starter wires....testing them each in the same manner...Ignition only has 12V if the key is turned to ignition, accessory to accessory and the starter wire only has 12 V of the starter is well started......Any questions about this PM me.

Finished bundle

Next up is what I consider the bread and butter one the more challenging aspects is the Door Locks.....door locks styles vary from manufacturer to another, This car for typeings sake is easy...9 out 0f 10 alarms (this one) have a negative output for lock and unlock......the RAV uses The same pulses....so it is plug and play find the lock and unlock wires....The wire list I have is highly reliable so it was a breeze. bam in the kicks.

There are various ways to test for door locks...however....ask a pro if you have any doubts...on to the story I just grounded out the wire to see if it did what it was suppose to...unlick wire needed a double pulse...so I touched it to ground twice...and voila unlock...I do not recommend doing that...I was just confident that i had found the wire...( i also used my DMM to see if it was correct first)

OK well this alarm was for my wife and its a very simple vehicle....I did not install

starter kill
door triggers
Any extra accessories

This is the dash after I was done.

Before reassembling everything I make sure no wires are near moving parts (aka steering wheel) and I verify everything operates the best it can until I program everything in.

OK well This is a programming guide it looks difficult and it is the first time you do one LOL but just go slow and follow the book...and be somewhere secluded my alarm chirps while programming....so it gets annoying. LOL

******* Wire Splicing I Did *******

Before doing an alarm for the first time make sure you understand the instructions given, make sure you are ready for a long day/night.......for the newbs that is...

This install took me a little over 3.5 hours total....1.5 yesterday 2 today with taking pictures and goofing off.
