TOOLS NEEDED:
8mm socket
Pry bar or thin flat
blade screwdriver
Mallet or hammer.
Knife
High temp RTV
REMOVAL:
Using the 8mm socket,
remove all the bolts that secure the oil pan to the windage tray. They are
located around the bottom edge of the pan. There are 3 on each end and 5-8 on
the long sides.
Use the mallet to drive the pry
bar or screwdriver into gap between the windage tray and the oil pan. When you
break through the RTV, start prying down until oil pan is completely
free.
INSTALLATION:
Use a gasket scraper
to scrape free as much of the RTV as possible. Use sandpaper after that to
completely clean the mating surface.
Using high temp RTV,
squirt a 1/8” bead around the entire mating surface, including around both sides
of the screw holes.
Lift the pan onto the
windage tray in a straight even motion and install the corner screws, then begin
installing the other screws.
Cut off any excess RTV that has leaked out the sides.
